White Paper: Canadian Labelling Laws

Canada has very specific regulations that govern how labelling and packaging must be done, for both food and non-food products. In particular, there are specific requirements that dictate:

  • information to be presented in both official languages, English and French;
  • how nutritional informational is presented;
  • additional requirements if the product is being sold in the province of Quebec.

In this white paper, we provide an overview of these requirements, including new front-of-package (FOP) labelling requirements that were introduced in 2016 and must be implemented by December 2021.
