1. Purpose and Commitment

LAT Multilingual is committed to human rights, dignity, equality, accessibility, inclusion, and environmental responsibility. We provide a workplace and services free from discrimination, harassment, violence, and barriers, comply with applicable laws, and continually improve our social and environmental performance.

2. Scope

This policy applies to employees, directors, contractors, freelancers, interns, volunteers, applicants, clients, suppliers, and others interacting with LAT Multilingual. It covers all employment, service delivery, workplace events, travel, remote work, and digital communications.

3. Policy Principles

  • Equality and dignity: Make decisions using objective, job- or service-related criteria and treat everyone professionally.
  • Accessibility and inclusion: Identify and remove barriers and respect linguistic, cultural, and intersecting identities. Accents are valued as part of lived experience.
  • Sustainability: Support healthy communities, a safe workplace, low-carbon practices, responsible resource use, and ethical growth.
  • Accountability: Address concerns promptly and improve human-rights and sustainability performance.

4. Prohibited Discrimination and Harassment

LAT Multilingual prohibits discrimination and harassment based on any ground protected by applicable law, including Indigenous identity, race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital or family status, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, political belief, and unrelated criminal conviction.

Prohibited conduct includes direct, indirect, systemic, intentional, or unintentional adverse treatment, exclusion, discriminatory requirements, stereotypes, unwelcome conduct, or a poisoned environment. Respectful management, quality assurance, editing, and performance feedback carried out in good faith are not harassment.

5. Multilingual and Client-Service Standards

  • Preserve meaning, tone, dignity, and context without introducing bias or stereotypes.
  • Base assignments and quality reviews on relevant skills, knowledge, certification, and experience.
  • Provide respectful service regardless of language, accent, literacy, nationality, immigration status, culture, disability, or other protected ground.
  • Translate harmful source content accurately within the mandate, flag material risks, and protect sensitive information under privacy and security requirements.

6. Sustainability and Social Impact

LAT Multilingual integrates social and environmental considerations into everyday decisions through:

  • inclusive opportunities and positive community impact;
  • remote and digital-first work that reduces avoidable travel and paper;
  • reduced consumption, reuse, recycling, responsible disposal, and environmentally conscious procurement;
  • compliance with environmental laws, employee awareness, and periodic performance reviews.

7. Accommodation and Accessibility

LAT Multilingual will accommodate needs connected to protected characteristics to the point of undue hardship. Adjustments may relate to recruitment, schedules, duties, location, technology, communication, training, workspace, services, or document formats.

Requests may be made verbally or in writing to the Founder or a designated contact. LAT Multilingual will discuss functional needs, request only necessary information, assess effective options individually, implement accommodations promptly, protect privacy, review arrangements as circumstances change, and explain alternatives when a requested option cannot be provided.

8. Raising a Concern or Complaint

Anyone may report discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or accessibility barriers verbally or in writing to the Founder. If that route is inappropriate, the concern may be raised with LAT Multilingual’s designated independent contact. Reports should provide available facts and the outcome sought. Reasonable support, accessible procedures, and preferred-language communication may be requested.

9. Response, Investigation, and Resolution

LAT Multilingual will assess immediate risks, acknowledge the concern, and select an appropriate process, which may include informal resolution, mediation, corrective measures, or an impartial investigation. Everyone affected will receive a fair opportunity to provide relevant information. Outcomes will be communicated subject to privacy obligations, and proportionate action and follow-up will be taken.

10. Confidentiality, Privacy, and Non-Retaliation

Information will be shared only as needed for a fair process, safety, advice, or legal compliance and will be stored securely. Retaliation against anyone who raises a concern, requests accommodation, or participates in a process in good faith is prohibited. Deliberately false allegations or obstruction may lead to corrective action.

11. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leadership implements this policy, models respectful and responsible conduct, responds to concerns, arranges accommodations, provides training, removes systemic barriers, and reviews performance.
  • Workers and contractors follow this policy, protect confidentiality, complete training, report serious concerns, and support responsible resource, travel, and waste practices.
  • Clients, suppliers, and other third parties must interact respectfully and support applicable ethical and environmental expectations. LAT Multilingual may change arrangements, suspend work, or end relationships to protect rights, safety, integrity, or the environment.

12. Corrective Action and External Rights

Breaches may result in education, accommodation, process changes, reassignment, discipline, termination of employment or contract, or other proportionate remedies. Nothing in this policy limits anyone’s right to seek advice or contact a tribunal, regulator, police service, court, or other competent authority.

13. Training, Monitoring, and Review

LAT Multilingual will communicate this policy during onboarding, provide role-appropriate training, and review it annually or after material changes. De-identified human-rights trends and practical environmental indicators may be used to guide improvement while protecting privacy.
